I don’t think we could have ever imagined how much the world would change in a single generation. We’ve come from children raised with physical discipline (I’m deliberately exaggerating here), through experiencing a generation with no discipline at all, right up to the realisation that we can learn from our children. I’m talking about awareness—something that is an innate trait for children today. For us, it’s something we have to learn and recognise; for them, it’s the default. And I believe this played a huge part in the 2026 Hungarian political CHANGE.
The world has moved on. Not just from Hungary, but from every country. Our systems were designed to train and maintain soldiers and subjects, not thinking people who want to negotiate their own roles. The classic channels are no longer efficient enough to spread the narratives of the old order. This is our great fortune.
Our system is built on bad foundations; that’s what I’ve been trying to write about for some time now. I don’t agree with those who claim that man is fundamentally flawed. I think that is an effect, not a cause. A botched system made people that way. Fundamentally, we have animal instincts too, and animals help each other (little birds unite against the squirrel, to use an example my dad saw with his own eyes; but we’ve seen it on nature documentaries too, how buffaloes stand together against a lion or a crocodile, or how a parrot warns the monkey when a predator approaches). MAN IS FUNDAMENTALLY HELPFUL! And it feels so good to say that out loud. You feel it in your gut when you find a statement that is true. Sometimes it’s a tingle, goosebumps, sometimes just a sudden awareness and a sense of arrival down your spine (or more precisely, I seem to feel it at the nape of my neck…).
Alongside this, I believe playfulness, participation, team spirit, belonging, ’loving’ and ‘being loved’, and fair play are the things we all share.
(Fair play is hard to translate perfectly because it’s not just about following rules. It’s more than just what the referee decides is ’legal’. Fair play is when the ball went off you, and the ref awards you the throw-in, but you point out that it was actually off you.) But I digress…
And what did our old systems do (from feudalism to capitalism)? They killed playfulness, preached individualism and self-reliance (disconnecting us from one another), and hid behind secrets, regulations, procedures, and ‘customary law’. People were taught to simply resign themselves to their fate. This isn’t about blame; it’s a diagnosis. Big words, I know! But it’s my opinion. :) The way I see it.
But let’s return to the 2026 Hungarian political turning point. Put very simply: a system, an ideology, collapsed under the weight of people’s ideology-free cooperation. It proves that humans can indeed operate without being boxed into ideologies. It’s a moment where I understand (and accept) atheists, but perhaps that’s a topic for another post…
The old system is still standing, but there’s not much holding it up. We have a state model manufactured in the 1940s based on a Soviet template, which we’ve been patching and mending ever since. We’ve developed it, of course, but we never had the chance to truly rethink it. It struck me watching a video recently that the Russians always struggled with the sheer size of their country; their biggest challenge was logistics, so the model itself is logistics-focused. Different country size, different assets, different challenges—yet the state model exported was the same. What I’m saying is: don’t regret letting go of the old system. It wasn’t designed for us, and it rested on the wrong foundations anyway.
Not to mention that the abuse (the violence, the oppression) was systemic. It was seen as natural (and almost became so again) that someone could lose their job, their support, or even their child if they didn’t do what the system demanded. And even if none of this affected you personally, be glad—but know that it happened to many, and if even one single person was threatened, that is already one too many. Way TOO MANY!
I believe the healing of the country and the reunification of the nation will happen much faster than we thought. The necessary ’enemy image’ (the NER and its enablers) is there for those who need one to move forward. However, let’s not forget that an enemy image can also be a symbol of progress and learning—we’ve seen this in the example of Germany. This is why accountability is vital. It always has been. We need clarity, things put in order, a system of checks and balances that protects citizens, and the restoration of the total independence of the branches of power. Only then can we begin the therapy after this abusive relationship.
It makes me smile when Viktor Orbán or Gergely Huth say that their ‘community’ will come under attack. No. Not your community. It’s you who are being held accountable—you who are responsible for the disappearance of billions, for the cover-ups, and for misleading a significant part of the country. The list of foul play and obstructed investigations is very long. The majority of your voters are victims of your system, and they will end up far angrier at you—the leaders, the mouthpieces, the ’experts’—than we ever were…
Truth triumphs in the end; the story ends well. But I hope this is only just the beginning… ❤️
Because an opportunity is opening up to build a new, fair, transparent system that everyone can understand. In a transparent system, everyone can see exactly how the taxes they pay are being used for the common good. And because it’s understandable, people will be much more willing to contribute, because they see and understand that together, everything is easier. It can rebuild the trust between the state and its citizens. For this, the state must operate efficiently—it will be hard, but it’s doable. Perhaps even the negative connotation of the word ’tax’ will vanish or change, but maybe that’s just wishful thinking… 🤓😜
